Bank It or Yank It!

This section is a collection of book, music & movie reviews

Album: Ryan Leslie
Artist: Ryan Leslie

Multi-talented newcomer Ryan Leslie is anything but "new" to the music scene. Known to many in the music industry as a producer, Leslie has worked with artist ranging from Cassie, New Edition, and Loon to Brittany Spears, JoJo, and Danity Kane. This talented producer has emerged from the background and taken on a new title, singer.

His self-titled debut album includes 12 tracks and features guest appearances by Fabolous and Cassie. Ryan Leslie's music is diverse and interesting. He has an old school sound with songs like "Valentine," and switches it up with an alternative fused sound with the track, "Quicksand." His song "Gibberish" in which he sings indistinguishable words (gibberish) over a slow beat using synthesized effects is innovative and one of a kind.

Bank It!
Ryan Leslie has finally made his way to the forefront and with an undeniable presence! He's definitely one to watch. He's a true artist in every sense of the word. If you're looking for songs overdone with too many extra special studio effects you won't find them here. Leslie takes it back to the old school days when talent superseded studio tricks. He plays several different instruments, sings, raps, writes, and produces his own music. With innovative, clean beats, Leslie has a distinctive style and sound all his own. With hit singles like Diamond Girl, Addiction, and How it was supposed to be, this debut cd is sure to have many fans addicted, and craving more!

The Limelight

As of January 2009, I began working for NPR affiliate, WFIU (Indiana University's radio station). I am currently working as an arts and entertainment reporter. I write script, secure and conduct interviews, edit audio, and produce segments for a new series that airs on the radio and appears on the WFIU site. This segment, "The Limelight," is a one minute spotlight on various arts and entertainment events happening in and around the Bloomington area. Below are a few links to the segments I have produced thus far. For more samples of my work with WFIU, click here: Samples
